Georg Marckmann

Georg Marckmann studied medicine and philosophy at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, MA, USA). From 1998 to 2010, he was Assistant Professor at the Institute of Ethics and History of Medicine at the University of Tübingen. Since 2010 he is full professor and director of the Institute of Ethics, History, and Theory of Medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. From 2012 to 2022 he was president of the German Medical Ethics Society. His main research interests include ethical implications of modern biotechnology, ethical issues in end-of-life care, clinical ethics consultation, distributive justice in health care, and public health ethics.
