My role within MMM is to establish robust biomarkers for motor performance that are continuously trackable in real-life/at-home settings, based on data from several body-worn sensor systems. More specifically, my research comprises the following:
- Proposal of suitable models and delineation of variance sources based on an existing dataset of more than 300 movement recordings plus longitudinal follow-ups from patients with genetic multisystemic ataxia.
- Model validation in a prospective study of n=10 patients of MMM ASO target diseases by comparison to a lab-based reference standard.
- Utilization of statistical, algorithmic, and machine learning approaches to establish outcome measures with maximal effect size and minimal variance on a single subject level.
