On 9th of October 2025, Daria (DC at Uppsala University) assisted in representing the Faculty of Pharmacy of Uppsala University at the SciFest (https://www.scifest.se/w/sf/en). SciFest is a science festival primarily aimed at young people: from middle school, junior high school and high school. The theme of the booth was “Invent the medicine of the future!” So, young people could approach them and ask any questions about chemistry and drugs, experience drug molecules in VR, assemble the model of the molecule, and challenge themselves in dose optimization. Daria was mostly focused on the latter part: to illustrate the concept of pharmacometrics, and specifically dose optimization, the audience was introduced to the online tool, which simulates the blood sugar level and insulin pharmacokinetics, taking into account timing of meals and insulin dosage. So young people could simulate different scenarios and understand how hard it can be to find the right dose and dosing regimen, and how important it is to know more information about the patient.
